Having to deal with appearance of varicose veins is one thing that women have had to deal with for years, but the other symptoms is another story all together. Varicose veins will oftentimes leave many women feeling too tired to move around much, which means if they have little ones, then they do not feel much like chasing around after them since their legs are aching and feel so heavy most of the time.

Varicose veins are caused when the blood within the legs do not have proper circulation, which is the result of the weakened valves within the veins. When this occurs the blood will begin to pool in one central area. As a result, the veins will begin to bulge through the skin forming what is known as the large blue veins that we call varicose veins. It is not unusual for a varicose vein to rupture, which will turn into an open sore on the skin.

Research studies have been done on varicose veins, but not much is know about them as of yet. It is known that it is a trait that runs in families, which means if they are in your family, then you have something to look forward too. Many pregnant women develop varicose veins, but it has not been determined yet to as why. Researchers feel it is due to the pressure that the growing uterus places on the veins going to legs throughout the pregnancy.

Many women have discovered that putting on support hose first thing in the morning has really helped them in preventing varicose veins. Research studies have shown that by wearing support hose the veins are given more support, which helps with the circulation of blood. This is on of the best ways that a women can prevent getting varicose veins.

Anyone with varicose veins knows they will not just disappear all on their own. The majority of women will deal with them being on their legs. Of course, this all depends on how bad they are and where they are on their legs. If the varicose veins are too bad, then some women will opt for a surgical treatment to have them removed, but normally this is only in the most severe cases.

Back in the 1950s, a surgical method known as stripping was developed, which is still used today, to remove varicose veins. The veins are tied off from larger veins and then stripped from the body so they are no longer a nuisance to the patient. A few incisions are made around the groin area where a flexible instrument is used to go through the vein itself. This procedure is fairly simply and the patient does not have to be put asleep to have it done.

Once you have had the stripping surgery, you will be more than exciting to put on a new pair of shorts or a new dress just to show your legs off once more. Oftentimes, women feel much more healthier as well as happier once they have had the surgery simply because they know that unsightly blemish is no longer there. Also, that tired and achy feeling they were having in their legs will soon disappear as well.
