Car accidents are impossible to avoid. Whether your fault or the fault of another driver, odds are you will be in some type of automobile accident. Improving your odds at avoiding injury is easy if you stock certain supplies in your main vehicle.

Almost every general store will stock a basic health kit. Most often reserved for the home or a small school class room, these kits have your basic supplies in them to remedy minor injuries. A small kit such as this will come in handy until more experienced help arrives to the scene of an accident. Basic medications and prevention items such as bandages can go a long way.

Always have water on hand when traveling in a vehicle. It’s important since you can, in theory, break down at any time and become stranded. A vacation can quickly turn into a life or death experience. When stranded, water is absolutely necessary to keep a clear train of thought and stay hydrated. Two gallons of drinking water in your trunk, or more, is always great to have.

Having a “pay as you go” mobile phone somewhere in your car is also a good idea. We don’t always keep our primary mobile phones charged fully, meaning you might not be able to call for help if you happen to become in an accident. A “pay as you go” phone will only need to be charged once to your financial account.

Always have a spare camera ready so you can get real time proof of any evidence of a wreck. This will be vital in winning a court case in your favor if the cause of accident was neglect and the fault lies within the other driver. Take as many pictures as you can of the environment, the vehicle, and of the other vehicles contained within the accident. It’s best to be prepared and ready for a case rather than down on your luck more than once.

Notifying other drivers to slow down and observe the fact there has been an accident is important to avoid further wrecks. This is easily done by putting road markers around the accident. When other drivers see this bright orange markers, which are reflective at night so they work any time, they will observe caution when passing by. Without the markers, other drivers might not see the accident and could easily hit a pedestrian at the scene or another car within the wreck.

Precautions taken today will prevent further injuries tomorrow. Remember that when you are outfitting your car with the latest kits and gear to help out in case an emergency does happen in the future.
